5 days to go…time for a new idea

This isn’t a Nigella Lawson moment. A gratuitous oozing shot of food to make your blood thump harder. No this is my tea and it got me thinking…

It’s just a simple fish finger sandwich, salad cream instead of ketchup and a grating of cheese, but nothing fancy. Its minimal effort food with maximum endorphin upside which made me think, we all remember places we have visited which have done great food. It can be simple stuff or fancy, but we remember it and its more than likely we tell our family and friends about it too.

If the recommendation is that good we will travel to try it or at least detour to it next time we are in the area so, tonight, thanks to my humble, over-too-soon fish finger sandwich, I’m going to add a new category to anywherebutlondon – great places to eat.

Every region has little gem. Rossi’s in Westcliff-on-Sea has been recommended for its ice cream, I’d shortlist the Adelphi pub in Leeds for its fish finger bap(I’m addicted), so where else should people travel for a table?

Let me know and I’ll add them to a new section to salivate over.

I’ve gone all Nigella Lawson again.

I blame the photo.

  1. I fail to believe that the ice-cream at Rossi’s can be better than Brymors in High Jervaulx, North Yorkshire. Few ice-cream parlours can command a queue on a winter week-day afternoon, on a farm in the middle of nowhere ๐Ÿ™‚
(Pro-tip: try the Ginger ice-cream – sounds wrong but tastes *so* right).
(and while there be sure to take in The Forbidden Corner, Jervaulx Abbey, Hackfall Woods (and The Druids Temple) all few minutes drive away ๐Ÿ™‚
